Doing Cute Things with Cuter People

Oh hai, Webs.

I promised my buddy Stephanie I'd get some pics up and posted of our recent adventure downtown. And by adventure, I mean we went out to eat. But Stephanie doesn't eat vegetables, and as a general rule, I don't park downtown, so it was puh-retty crazy for us, if you know what I mean [of course you don't, that made little to no sense].

Also, two things. First - I have a pop quiz tomorrow. The reason that it is a "pop" quiz is because I didn't figure out that we have a quiz until today. Obviously, I decided blogging would be more fun than studying. Secondly - Because my blogging has been somewhat sporadic [amen?], I've decided to make this post somewhat of a disjointed photo-dump. I'm sorry for all of you readers who come here for the consistency and fluidity of the posts.

Episode 1: Pie Birds [the downtown adventure]

Oh, I see. They're birds. Like Pie Bird.

Chicken Pot Pie. Just like momma makes. Except better.

Full disclosure: The Chicken Pot Pie was not actually that good. But the honey sea salt pie made up for it.
PS - Steph in the neon yellow. In case you've forgotten what I look like, I'm sporting the hobo-casual wardrobe on the left.

 Episode Deux: My Wall Decorations

I was just really proud of the fact I did something artsy like hammer up an empty picture frame (...).
The bird's really cute, only you can't tell that it's a bird because some artsy person can't figure out her point and shoot.
Also, did you like the nice segue from Pie Bird to fake ornament bird?

Episode Drei: Lady Darcie D. Gets Married in the State of Co and bRob and Monica Come to See
the wedding I mentioned...in February. bRob's a little behind.

Bachelorette Party. Sad though this may be, none of us actually had alcohol at this point.
L-R: Darcie, bRob, Monica

For reference, this is us four years ago (not in the same order...obvi).

My first cake pop!
Full disclosure: Tried to make some cake pops the other day. They stunk.

Darcie's craft yarn is so colorful.

pretty girl
haha look at the flower girl trying to check out Darcie's makeup

first kiss!
maybe photography is my spiritual gift...

you might not be able to see through the blur, but that's Mr. and Mrs. B!

monica is as lovely as she is sweet.
and yes, that's my face.

PS - getting more pie tomorrow. <3
PSS - I've started running [read: jogging] again, so it's ok.

Whirlwind Surreality

Webs,

My weekend jaunt was surreal. I landed in a flat, wide state covered in more snow than I'd ever seen in my entire life. I saw friends I hadn't seen in four years. We relived lots and lots of tales from our time as camp counselors in the Colorado mountains. I went to my first ever bachelorette party. I attended a wedding. I rode home in a tiny plane with someone with serious gastrointestinal issues, which meant I spent a good majority of the flight gagging and looking around to spot the gassy culprit [no luck].

I took lots of photos.

I also left my camera in Colorado.

No photos for you, Webs.

Another day, I suppose. Whenever my camera makes its way back home.

In lieu of photos, here's the "first dance" song. I'd never heard it before, but it fits the style of the couple well.

I would apologize for how lame this photo-less post is, but then I remembered that it's my blogumentary, and blogumentaries are honest, not necessarily interesting. Right? yeah.

From the Tundra

Dear blog -

I forgot to tell you I wouldn't be here for a few days because I flew out to Colorado. Between being sick, going to the emergency room, and general Maury-style drama llama, I didn't have time to warn you that I'd be gone. And I knew you'd notice because I'm  normally super consistent about posting.

Pics, stories, hilarity to come.

Love,
bRob

PS - it is super cold here in this state. they collect snow here like it's their job.

Toilet Brushes

I don't understand why toilet brushes don't have longer handles.

          Or aren't ergonomic.

                     Or  are so splashy.    .

moving on.

"Colorado bRob" - what my Dad dubbed my post-Colorado can-do-anything persona

Once upon a time, I worked in Colorado. I learned a lot that summer - about people and how to deal with them,

how to backpack

how to hide in the best hiding places  where little children can't find you

                how to negotiate with seven-year-olds

how to sweet-talk little girls into not crying

how to properly climb up a mini-glacier

how to repel & belay

how to get the leisurely [slow] group, including one ornery 10-year-old cuss, up a mountain

and how to be hardcore.

Having been completely engrossed in the world of academia for the past three years since, I forgot that I can do things besides accidentally get papercuts while opening textbooks and drink insane amounts of coffee.

But when I had to move my  bookshelf down three flights of stairs last week in the sweltering heat with only the help of my little grandma, I was reminded that I can still be hardcore.
[that never-ending, multi-claused sentence looks German]

I carted heavy rafts and obnoxious children around for a summer -
I can do difficult, taxing things now, too.

God makes us to be these dynamic, multi-faceted and capable creatures,
but sometimes I put myself in a weak and nerdy academic box.

Moral of this soliloquy:

bRob = 1, bookshelf = owned.

Hold Someone's Hand.

It's a jungle out here.

Pictured here is the war zone that is my bed. On the far right corner you see my circuits book. I hate it. And yes, I hate it enough to use the word hate and make an angel lose her wings. HATE circuits. Other miscellanea: An eraser, a penny, a cute bear pen, Japanese rice crackers (gettin' in touch with my asian roots...my great-grandma's from Russia. It counts.) That is a CASIO calc, and is that...what?? Is that a zebra-striped snuggie? Yes. It is. Because if I wear a blanket, I couldn't move my arms. That simply won't do. On top of my fab snuggie is my planner (I know - it's the first time I've had one in, like, four years), my CIM notebook, and moving to the rear of the pic is a package from one sweet friend in Colorado, my study Bible, and the corner of my Jesus Journal. You will see that Compie 386 is currently downloading some Fountains of Wayne onto my iTunes.

Take a glimpse at my world. eat it up.

love,
bRob.

PS- Today I am thankful for that snuggie. Don't worry - I'll try and model it for you soon.
