TechniColor: I Love a Nice Bathroom

I have officially decided that the three most important rooms in a house include: her bathroom [his and her bathrooms are a must], the library, and whichever room the really big and comfy couch goes [you know, the kind of couch where you have to wear floaties and swim your way out of it].

This week in links and pictures:

Those green goblets in the center are gorgeous. They would get the most spectacular place in my library. Did you think I was going to say kitchen? Silly you - I would put these in an important room.

The Illustrated Guide to a Ph.D
I am going to print this off and give it to every PhD student who dares roll his or her eyes at an undergraduate again. And then, when I become a PhD student, I'll forget all about it and ride my power trip all day long.

Liu Bolin keeps it simple but ingenious - he paints himself with crazy detail  to blend in with his surroundings.

He doesn't use any software or special effects - just straight-up paint. Can you even see him in this picture?

What Kind of Facebook Poster are You?

Sadly, I confess I am a Dear Inanimate Object poster. There is truth in this post.

I Love Charts

Very important graphs and statistics. I urge you to browse them all.

novel eats

Will someone bake me these mini apple pies? Apparently, kitchens aren't important enough to be in my house. Plus I don't bake. Plus food is so much better when it's miniature, and then you can eat a bazillion of them.

Advice from the CDC on preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Love it, learn it.

Ivan Maximov designed these really cool take-away beer mugs for a series of pubs in Russia. Very slick.

How to Style Maiden Braids
I want to do this at some point.

Masha Sardari's photographs seem like snippets of a fairytale or dream, but with some edge.Beauty with grit. This one below might be my favorite.

University of Chicago Shows Off its Automated Library
A giant dome filled with reading tables houses the Joe and Rika Mansueto Library. Instead of  lots and lots of beautiful old books through which to browse, the books are stored in optimal conditions by size under the reading room.
It makes me a little sad.

Dirtless planters. Kind of eccentric and sweet, maybe?

This is both laugh-worthy and impressive
Made my day. Slash year.

I think this might have been Cleopatra's bathroom. I've always been a shower person, but I'd be willing to convert for this bathroom - who wouldn't want to pretend to be a mermaid in that thing?

French By Design

That shower is amazing. And I never ever want a couch in my bathroom...but it looks pretty pimpin'.

This lace dress is a someday thing I kind of want.
Someone pinned  it but didn't cite her source. I don't really know the protocol, then...

The Estate of Things
Pardon the blurriness - it's a movie still from "Stranger Than Fiction". Check out the chandelier in the upper left hand corner.Believe it or not, people have gone crazy trying to figure out where to get that chandelier. I wish I had a clearer picture. Ana Pascal's eccentric apartment is incredible. The set designers outdid themselves.

Have a great week, everyone.

  1. I really love these posts you do Brittany! They're kind of an amalgamation of all things awesome :D also, random: I totally have that link to the maiden braids tutorial bookmarked in the hopes that one day I'll do it too! Also, that shower with the couch next to it--I'd totally get water all over EVERYTHING without glass or a curtain, I'm sure of it!
