TechniColor: It's Been a While

Greetings from across the InterWebs.

Here in scholarly-ville [hah], I've spent the past few weeks entrenched in finals. I honestly barely made it out... I tried to pull two all-nighters in a row, and ended up WAKING UP in the middle of an exam to discover weird things I'd written all across my papers, like  "pick up the ball"  next to an annuity factor. I got a little delirious apparently, and my subconscious wants to play catch?? So - I apologize for the blogging hiatus, but I hope you understand.

Unfortunately - I am WHOAH behind in my web surfings, but I have some amazing  artwork to share with you, Webs.

So, without further ado:

Lissy Larrichia's work is just...unreal. It's both otherworldly and intriguing, no?

Color + Cake. Two of the greatest things in one jar.

I think this is perhaps the coolest art project I have ever seen. Dave Devries of The Monster Engine takes children's drawings and paints them realistically. Using a projector, he traces the child's drawing, and then he paints the sketch to give it dimensionality and texture.

I am SO in love with this concept - what child wouldn't love this? Shoot, what adult wouldn't love to see his or her scribbles turned into masterpieces? If I'd ever ventured beyond stick figures, maybe I'd submit my doodles!!

A claw-footed tub couch. Clever.

I am incrediStoked about my first "local" artist feature. Hah. One of my former roommates and high school friends, Jessica, just graduated with a biology degree, but she is an incredible artist as well! These are from a series illustrating a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Check out more of J.P.'s work: Jessica's Art.

Vogue Australia hits the San Miguel de Allende streets in a bold photoshoot.

While I was standing at the bus stop the other day, a man came and stood beside me. He was shaving his face with an electric razor. I commend his innovative use of that time. I normally just stand there.

Michael Manalo pulls from his dreams to create beautifully surreal images. Is it bizarre to say this one gives me an extraordinary sense of deja vu?

  2. I like this post. The picture with the American Gothic models makes me happy, as does the claw foot bed.
