Grease

**So I just realized I should be compressing my pictures so they upload faster. Sometimes I find myself most embarrassing.

This past weekend Erin and I went to visit...

Greece!

It's been a dream of mine to visit Greece for a while now, and I'm so excited I got this opportunity. I figured I'd share some of my pics with you, but know that I am also trying to up my pathetic July post count.

Landing in Athens.

A makeshift bed on the 8-hr overnight ferry to Santorini.
I really wanted to visit one of the islands, and I'm glad we were able to make it work..
Even though almost 14 hours of ferries on top of 5 hrs of flight is pretty exhausting for one weekend...

After we checked into our hotel on the island, Erin and I decided to do a volcano + hot springs tour. I was worried about taking my camera to the hot springs, so I did not take any pictures.

I could kick myself.

The hot springs were not as hot as I was thinking, but you should know that the water is SO blue around the islands. And the volcano was...very rocky. But I hiked it all the way to the top in flip flops, so I'm proud.

We went to Oia for dinner and the sunset.
I'd heard that Oia, on the Caldera, is the best place to see the sunset.

Also, sorry for dressing like a scanty hobo. We wanted to keep our bathing suits on for the day because we weren't sure what time we'd head out to the beach.

I decided to be adventurous and try the stuffed calamari.

It was disgusting.

Adventure fail.

Gute idee.

Sunsets take a lot longer than you might think...

This picture doesn't really even begin to illustrate how crowded it was.

Erin and I got there about 45 minutes probably before the sun began to set, and we had amazing seats. We spent the next two hours being shoved around by obnoxious Europeans vying for our spot.

Including a lady with a larger behind clad in leopard-print spandex who kept trying to butt-push me out of her way.

Whoah now, tiger.

Rooftop romance.

Pfft.

We wanted to go for a late night swim on Santorini's famous black beach, Perissa, but the water was just a bit too nippy...

So we opted to get cocktails and sip them on the beach instead.

25 Euros will get you... a bed.

Sunrise in Fira

We had to take a taxi back down to the port in the morning...
we were kind of hoping this was it.
It wasn't.

We got back to Athens in time to spend a couple of hours around the city before our flight.

Only it was a bazillion degrees and I think we both finally snapped a little and stopped caring about old stuff.

Pictured above: something old.

I think the Agora, maybe? Note the fluted columns. In Art History, I had to memorize all the different types of Grecian columns. I've since forgotten them.

We were in a much better mood after we ate food.

Sorry the pictures aren't so high in quality, but at least they are all here.

Be sure to check out Erin's blog, Ich weiss nicht, to see more pictures as well as get her take on the trip.

PS I'm so seriously sunburnt it isn't even funny. I just kind of lie there in my bed trying not to move...

Oxford Comma

I just realized I've only posted four posts for all of July. While I blame 93% on my snail-paced internet, I do apologize for being a Lamesauce McGuffigan.

You guys know how much of a grammar fiend I am, so I thought I'd reblog this.
And also up my post count for July.

Food for thought. via as lovely as a dream

I've always chosen to use the oxford comma. It looks much less haphazard, I think...

Real post later.
Probably about some incrediCool trip I just took...

suspense.

Out and About in Muench..en? in? I never get it right.

This weekend:

Friday night at the Hofbrauhaus. Hitler used to have meetings there, you know. Also, about 4/5s into our meal, these asian men came and sat beside us and began to offer us money if we chugged our beer while they took pictures.

We opted not to do that, but every time they tried to sneak a picture, we would just put our hands up and look away. Like celebrities.
Please respect our privacy.

Lovely girl.
You should know that that is half Sprite, half beer. Also, it took me over 2.5 hrs to finish it.

On Saturday, I went and visited the Pinakothek Moderne, the Neue Pinakothek, and the Brandhorst Museum.

Just so you know, those little museum picture guards and I have serious beef.

I don't know if you could guess it, but I'm one of those people who always gets yelled at in those art museums. Those guards cheese my grits and irk my taters. They always make me feel like this evil art villain.
Guys - chillax. I'm not about to spit up my wad of gum and stick on your weird modern statue. (I shouldn't knock modern art, I really love it, actually).

This one lady and I almost got in a row. I was looking at a hanging on the wall, and she stepped up to me and indicated I needed to stand behind a line. Which I was. So I indicated I understood. However, apparently my sandal-clad toes were too close to the line.

But bRob was NOT giving in to this power trip. I was behind the line! So I stood there, ignoring the lady's fidgeting and aggravation, with my toes flirting with the edge of the line. I neither moved closer nor farther away, and I'm pretty sure I was wearing a smirk. I'm pretty sure she would have thwapped me over the head if she could have, that's what my dad always does when I'm being a smart aleck.

"FreeLove"

So I got yelled at for touching the "piece" above. What kind of nonsense is that?? Why would you put a sculpture in the middle of the stairwell if it isn't meant to be messed with? I just wanted to see if it moved...

InterWebs, I saw this and thought of you.

I love Manet's faces.

On my way to the train station
I wonder if Vera ok'd this...

On Sunday I visited Dachau.

this is not how i saw today going

Hey InterWebs -

not to be melodramatic or anything, but I think my life is draining out of my eyeballs and nose.

How does a cold hurt so much? I do this thing where i lay on my bed in awkward positions, kind of wallowing around in self pity and used tissues, readjusting my pillows every 37 seconds. Like clockwork.

I change sleeping outfits approximately 9 times, because I can't seem to get comfortable.

Thanks, german supermarkets, for not carrying nyquil. I suppose I'll have to make my own self fall asleep.

Right now I'm just kind of rolling around in a ball.

I feel so weaakkkkkk.

Anyways,
a) because i am a last minute procrastinator
b) because i feel like death

I will not be going anywhere cool this weekend. Traveling anywhere so last minute would have been super expensive, and because I hadn't planned it would have been super messy and hectic and I probably wouldn't have had a fun time. I'd rather have a good time in Munich than a bad time in London.

Maybe I'll take pictures for you.

Or maybe I'll just continue to roll around on my bed all weekend like a weird little bouncy ball.

Ok.

I just though I would let you guys know what's happening, since I haven't talked to you in two days.

I knew you were concerned.
